Functional Safety Engineer Training

Functional safety in the process industry is commonplace and industry best practice is compliance with IEC 61511. A requirement of IEC 61511 is that engineers are competent to carry out the activities for which they are accountable. Competence includes knowledge, training, and experience.

Functional Safety Engineer Training and exam certified by Safety and SIS (Spain) are designed to deliver the necessary knowledge to start working in the field of Functional Safety Engineering. Process Group Limited are providing, in classroom, instructor led training over three days covering the Safety and SIS FS Engineer course. The training covers all the content of this course, registration for the exam, exam preparation and proctored exam the following day.

FS Engineer course content includes:

  1. INTRODUCTION: Basic Concepts, Standards, Lifecycle, Management, Failures and Diagnostics.

  2. RISK ANALYSIS: Techniques, HAZOP, LOPA, Risk Graph, Risk Matrix, SRS

  3. DESIGN & IMPLEMENTATION: Devices, Architectures, PFDavg, Verification

  4. OPERATION & MAINTENANCE: Repair, Modification, Bypasses

  5. REVIEW: Review and exam preparation.

The FS Engineer exam is taken online (students should bring a laptop). On successful completion of the exam, the student will be provided with a FS Engineer certificate, certified by Safety & SIS (Spain).
